What is Copywriting?

So you’re curious about this copywriting thing you’ve been hearing about! Webster defines a copywriter as a writer of advertising or publicity copy. Pretty simple huh? Well the definition certainly is clear.

I’ve spent a couple decades in branding and marketing and copywriting has always been one of my favorite parts!

So what is copywriting? Copywriting is the art and science of creating written content that persuades people to take action. This can include everything from ads, brochures, and billboards to website content, emails, and social media posts. The goal of copywriting is to create messages that resonate with the target audience and motivate them to engage with a product or service.

Copywriting involves understanding what motivates people to take action and crafting messages that tap into those motivations.

There are LOTS of different types of copywriting, here are a few that I’ve written for: direct mail, email marketing, landing pages, billboards, brochures, social media posts! I could go on and on.

Copywriting is the language that connects a company with its customers! And it’s what motivates your customers to take action.

With the right skills and expertise, a great copywriter can help a company connect with its customers, build its brand, and achieve its marketing goals.
